With the announcement of the brand spanking new iPhone 6, sadly, the iPod Classic has to silently vanish and has no chance to sing its swan song.

ipod classic is the one can hold a big lot of AIFF that I rip from CD..... it's a bit old that I cannot use with bluetooth headphone... but it just fit on flight

I had an iPod Classic a few years ago, a nice player with super massive storage!
Now I use iMod with an amp, Classic's sound is too "cold" for me.

I would say it isn't worth doing(iPod -> iMod). Also, iPod classic cannot be modified.
When I mod my iPod Video, I modified only the line out path; I left the phone out path untouched.

I changed the batteries of all 3 myself, it is not difficult if you do it slowly.

My only iPod 30GB is bought around 2003 after SARS (...hope to help economy)

Changed the battery once in MK

Now still in operation, at home to connect to my HIFI

I use Ipod based DAC with amp. Very convenient and they sound good.
