He said 50mm 1.5 ASPH is an APO design.

Lens can be design to Apo spec, but manufacturing process limits it. As remember from Peter Karbe, he said 50/2AA cost up in manufacturing than the 50.4asph. Glass technology is more advanced in 50.4asph.
