Summilux hing, in my very humble opinions after 15 months usage and 10,000 clicks, I have summarized 3 pros and cons for your consideration:
Pros:
1. Brilliant files, extremely flexible. The fliexibility in post processing is amazing, shadow details is incredible. Highly recoverable files, just always under expose the shot!!!
2. Usable iso up to 6400...Even though the iso is up to 10000, I cap mine at 6400 as it gets harder to process the files at higher iso. To me it is not the noise that I am bothered with but it is the flatness of images at high iso that my post processing skills is not good enough to address.
3. Turns my elmar into a nocturnal lens due to higher usable iso.
Cons:
1. Horizontal banding while shooting at base iso (320) during the card writing buffer. Some have this problem some don't. But the get around is to use iso 400 while you need to shoot rapidly.
2. Due to the high sensitivity of the sensor, fast lenses need to be perfectly focused and may need to be calibrated to the camera. The norm of lens focus shift is more noticeable.
3. terrible LCD mon so it makes focus check impossible. Hence, if there is problems associated with point 2 above it is impossible to deal with in the field.
As regards your point about black chrome, here is a photo of what mine looks like. It has rub marks but too bad its not appealing at all.....
Lastly, the same as Lips hing, my daily lens is the elmar (35 or red scale) as I dont need to be too precise in focusing and I can still use it at night!
