Yeah, that could be the case for some.

However, when and if you need to produce a very large print, would too sharp be an issue?

M240's dynamic range is huge, adding 50APO, the range has sprung to a new level and that might not be for some!

My view is: 50 APO never too sharp after shooting over a thousand shot in half year. Exellent and plenty details on digital and especially tone of details on film. It worth every penney i paid for it.

agree with you completely!

Of course, it is not for those who looks for value for money. Without irrational people like us, Leica will not be able to continue their R&D and push the boundary.

Again, why is too much details a problem? I can reduce clarity and sharpness in LR if I want something less sharp, but I doubt if you could do it the other way round!

I must say, the more I use the better I can understand the strength of this lens.

Range and colour are much more extensive especially after LR'ed. So much deeper you can dig into a file and it can shock you with the details you discover!
