From M9 to M240 back to M9

I sold my M240 after 1day.  It seems like there are better people than me out there who are thinking the same

I have never got the chance to use M240 extensively, so definitely not fair for me to make any comment on it. That said, I always find special bonding with pictures taken by CCD, that is not available with those shot by CMOS no matter under which brandname. Indeed, I am still, and probably will remain for quite some time, shooting happily with not only my M9, but also the MM and M8 - merely the complete CCD family from the German brand.

It is very true that M240 has a higher usable ISO than M9, but I just don't care since shooting in real darkness is too much for my weak eye to focus accurately. Even in rare occasions where light is not sufficient, I can always "gear up" by my Nikkor-O 55/1.2 or VM50/1.1 and obviously give me the reason to get the Noctilux!

it was hard to get over the chunkiness of the m240. I'm going to use my m9 until it dies until then it will keep doing it's job along with the noctilux.

When M240 was first released, I was very disappointed by the initial photos posted by some of our members in hklfc.
The color was obviously different, and the pictures were generally flat, VERY flat.

But then later, they said the DNG files from M240 were highly "manipulatable" with software, and more and more better pictures were shown.

I was tempted to buy one, as I had before its released already acquired quite a number of good lenses that did not have RF coupling.
So after one year or so, I jumped into the boat.
Naturally I found the 直出 pictures pale and flat
Without a choice I had to begin to learn, reluctantly, some primitive PS.

The pictures did improve a lot with PS.
Still, the best I can say about M240 outputs, as compared to M9P, is ... they are different.

Attached is a picture shot with FD85/1.2ssc Aspherical mounted on M240, with some PS manipulation.

(When shooting with 85mm lenses, without LV and focus assist, it took me many attempts with M9P to get this in focus shot, while with M240 one take 搞掂)
